Le Client est roi…the client is king. But what is it that really makes them king?
The answer can include a number of things but I think it boils down to the fact that clients have the power to ask: “what’s in it for me?”
This concept is not limited to a client-business relationship though, I think that it can be applied to any kind of business relationship because in the end your reputation and how you are perceived are your own brand.
You are a walking business and everyone is (or can help you get) a potential client.
So whenever I am networking with business prospects, partners and other contacts as well, whenever I’m blogging or working on my website, I always try to keep in mind that my audience is probably thinking “What’s In It For Me.”
Here are some of my personal reminders:
-Ask good questions
-Really listen to what they say
-Don’t talk for too long
-Be clear, concise
-Be genuinely interested
-Be kind, humble
-Send a Thank You note (and holiday cards too!)
